Residents Medical provides medical school graduates with support in navigating the preparation and vetting process for obtaining residency in a US medical institution. Services offered by Residents Medical focus on preparing graduate students for Match Day in March.
The Match process enables residency candidates to find placement in first and second-year postgraduate training positions with residency programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The process begins in May, when students finalize their medical discipline. All participating institutions follow the same timeline, and nearly all first-year residency positions in ACGME accredited training programs participate.
After finalizing their medical discipline, students begin searching for appropriate residency programs. In July, students and residency programs create profiles through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Students can begin submitting their applications in September and participate in candidate interviews through December. After completing their interviews, students rank their preferred programs in ERAS in January.
Match Day occurs on the third Friday in March. Students receive invitations from residency programs via the ERAS system.
