Based in Los Angeles, Residents Medical assists medical students and graduates through the complex vetting and preparation process required to obtain a residency.

The point of going to medical school is to gain the education and skills needed to obtain an MD. Many hospitals and health care facilities want medical professionals who, in addition to having an MD, have complete a hands-on training requirement both in medical school and after medical school. This post-medical school training is called a medical residency.

Many U.S. states require medical school graduates to have served a residency of at least a year and obtained other medical certifications to become licensed to practice in a particular area. In many instances, it is practically impossible to become American Board of Specialties certified without serving a residency in the U.S.

When applying for a residency, factors that help a candidate gain acceptance from their program of choice include a curriculum vitae that shows high medical board scores, a thoughtful personal statement, solid reference letters, and a Medical Student Performance Evaluation.
